I’m Mary Bakija, an MSLIS candidate at the Pratt School of Information. During the 2019-2020 academic year, I was one of two New York Art Resources Consortium Web Archiving Fellows (along with Meghan Lyon — see her practicum project here). Under the supervision of Sumitra Duncan, Head of the Web Archiving Program at the Frick Art Reference Library, I worked as part of a team continuing a web archiving strategy that dates back to 2010 when the Frick, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Brooklyn Museum (which had all partnered to form NYARC in 2006) developed a plan to preserve websites that align with the collecting policies of each institution, as well as those institutions’ own websites (Duncan, 2017). This website presents some of the web archiving research I explored as part of this fellowship.
